About the Artist
After his initial career as a lawyer, Victor Charreton devoted his life to painting becoming a masterful artist. He studied with Ernest Victor Hareux and Louis Aimé Japy, both of whom were early influences on the artist.

Charreton debuted at the Salon in 1894, and then in Paris later that same year. He received a silver medal from the Salon in 1913, and was thereafter asked to serve on the Comité. He was a founding member of the Salon d’Automne and also served as Secretary. Charreton was named Officier de la Légion d’honneur.

The Legion of honor was an order established by Napoleon Bonaparte, and is the highest decoration in France. Works by Charreton are housed in many museum collections in the United States and in Europe.
