About the artist

Nicholas Hiltner (American, b. 1982) is a Contemporary Realist painter working predominately in landscape and figures. Hiltner displays an expertise and mastery of traditional painting, and his allegiance to painting strictly from life, and en plein air, contributes to the regeneration of a classic art form. His landscapes range from the familiar forests of the northeast American coast to the depiction of his foreign travels through Scotland and Switzerland. His pure and romantic approach to figurative work reveals true empathy in capturing emotion, and amazing skill in draftsmanship. A leader in American painting, Hiltner’s work is timeless.

Nicholas Hiltner studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Water Street Atelier. He has participated in dozens of exhibitions and has been featured in numerous periodicals. Having taught at the Grand Central Academy and co-founder of the Hudson River Fellowship, he lives in New York City.
